TRIBUTE TO MICHIO - PHASE 7 |
March 24, 1998
Finished!
It's always a wonderful feeling to finish. But with each conclusion, a little of me finishes as well. So much of the work lives within me during the process that to bid it farewell, and a life of its own, is difficult. Sounds like an empty nest kind of syndrome!
To complete the work, I used many different kinds of small bits for detail and finishing. I used sanding drums, sandpaper, a polishing wheel and compound for the final touch. The stand was fashioned from the section I removed from the lower part of the antler, not visible in the pictures. It was shaped and set into the back of the work to provide a tripod-like stability. This was then screwed and glued with 2-ton epoxy.
Phase 7b will show the work in its entirety. I have opted to include the larger detail pic from this phase in the gallery and the overall shot from phase 7b as the gallery thumbnail.
Till next time,
Shane
