SURPRISED - PHASE 2

Following the roughing out work done out of doors in the dead of winter, the balance was done in the comfort of my studio with small chisels, files and dental tools. What a pleasure not to have to wear hearing protection for the first time in my carving career!

After refining the shape, carving the details and sanding to 1500 grit, I added a little car wax to give the surface some protection. The rock that the bear is standing on will be left rough and unwaxed for a little contrast.

The weather here has been superb, for the Yukon, with unseasonally warm temperatures of -10 to -20 C. Nice weather to celebrate the holidays!
