Things are starting to take shape!

The figures are becoming more and more defined and are beginning to take on a three dimensional quality. Now for the time consuming detailed shaping and defining work.

The weather here today is spectacular. It's above zero and the snow is starting to melt. I have the window open as a carve, encouraged by the power of the sun - its light and heat bringing new life to this frozen land.

The ravens accross the valley must sense the return of life as they fly in pairs: swooping, diving and turning. They play one on one games of follow the leader with such grace and expertise that one can scarcely doubt their native intelligence.

They are intentional creatures in everything they do. Planning, foresight, cunning and teamwork mark their every move. I promised earlier that I would talk about my stuffed raven. Believe it or not, I think ravens commit hare-kare (sp?) when they are old and sick. I have seen them deliberately pecking at high voltage wires and transformers in an effort to cook their own gooses. Once the deed is done, and half the town goes dark, the other ravens fly by to pay their last respects. My stuffed raven was one such transformed bird.
