The Mayo Torch relay event was held in conjunction with the Mayo Midnight Marathon. The torch was transported by children over the first 5 km of the race course. Host Society President Piers McDonald was guest speaker, along with Ian Spencer and Sylvie Menelon. Mining company sponsors were present and they presented the village of Mayo with the community souvenir banner. After the event, members of the Host Society and the mining company representatives stayed in Mayo for the night to volunteer at water stations during the marathon.

Le Relais du flambeau communautaire de Mayo a été combiné au Marathon de minuit de Mayo. Le flambeau a été porté par des enfants pendant les cinq premiers kilomètres de la course. Le président de la Société hôtesse, M. Piers McDonald, était l’un des conférenciers invités, tout comme Ian Spencer et Sylvie Menelon. Les sociétés minières commanditaires étaient présentes et elles ont remis au village de Mayo une bannière souvenir communautaire. Après la manifestation, les membres de la Société hôtesse ainsi que les représentants des sociétés minières sont restés à Mayo afin de participer au marathon en tant que bénévoles délégués aux postes d'eau.
