Marcel Norn performed the torch lightning. The 5-kilometer relay route started at the Town Hall, ran along the shore of Great Slave Lake, past the arbour and continued through town until it finished back at the Town Hall. Speakers included Bess Ann McKay and Holly Ovayuak of NWT Municipal and Community Services.

Le flambeau a été allumé par Marcel Norn. La portion de cinq kilomètres du Relais partait de l’hôtel de ville pour longer la rive du Grand lac des Esclaves, dépasser le pavillon communautaire, traverser la collectivité, puis revenir à l’hôtel de ville. Des conférences ont été prononcées, entre autres par Bess Ann McKay et Holly Ovayuak, des Affaires municipales et communautaires des T.N.-O.
