The torch relay event started with visits to the Echo Dene Elementary School classrooms where five high school students took turns presenting the torch and gave a brief talk about the Canada Winter Games. The school students then paraded the torch, flags and the torch relay banner on a 2-kilometer relay around Fort Liard.

Le Relais du flambeau a commencé par des visites dans les classes de l’Echo Dene School par cinq élèves du secondaire qui, à tour de rôle, ont montré le flambeau et donné une courte présentation sur les Jeux d’hiver du Canada. Les élèves ont ensuite fait une marche de deux kilomètres en portant le flambeau, les drapeaux et la banderole du Relais dans les environs de Fort Liard.
