Torch Carriers: Local Athlete.

After the RCMP and the Ranger Sergeant brought the torch forward, emcee Rachel Ootoova introduced the special guests: the Mayor of Pond Inlet, the Premier of Nunavut, Lieutenant General Marc Dumais and Colonel Christine Whitecross. After an overview of the 2007 Torch Relay the local athletes who carried the torch were introduced. Then the torch was lit and the relay was off and running. A community feast complete with cultural performances by throat singers and square dancers followed the event.

L’agent de la GRC et le sergent Ranger ont apporté le flambeau et l’animatrice Rachel Ootoova a présenté les invités, soit le maire de Pond Inlet, le premier ministre du Nunavut, le lieutenant-général Dumais et la colonelle Christine Whitecross. Les invités ont d’abord fait un survol du Relais du flambeau 2007 avant de présenter les athlètes locaux porteurs du flambeau et d’allumer le flambeau, puis le relais a débuté. Ensuite, une fête communautaire a eu lieu, remplie d’activités telles que du chant guttural et de la danse carrée.
